What is Hyper-flashing?

Hyper-flashing is the rapid flashing of the indicators, after stock incandescent bulbs are upgraded to LED

What causes Hyper-flashing?

Unlike their incandescent counterparts, LED Bulbs draw much less power, which does not register with standard flasher relays

As the flash relay is not designed to work at such a reduced power draw, it functions as though the light bulb is blown out, and results in Hyper-flashing.

How can Hyper-flashing be fixed?

There are 2 main methods which can fix Hyper-flashing, which are:

1. Replacing the existing Flasher relay with one specifically suited to LED Bulbs.

Although this is the easiest fix, it is not always effective due to the age of the car, and its individual wiring circuitry.

However, if this method does suit your car, the old flasher unit can be removed, and the new LED relay simply plugged in its place. These units come in various pin configurations to suit most makes and models, and can be used for both LED and Incandescent Bulbs. This allows for options such as when LED bulbs are fitted to the front, and Incandescent bulbs are fitted to the rear.

2. Installing a Load resistor kit to each indicator light bulb.

These resistors can be used with standard flasher relays, and are installed parallel to the wiring behind each LED indicator bulb. (As per the diagram below.)

Each kit comes with a pair of resistors, (suits 2 bulbs) and 4 Splicing connectors, for simple installation.

Resistor Fitment Method

Please Note: Resistors can get hot during normal operation. This should be taken into account when installing, by locating them in a suitably safe position.
