Hotchkiss Am2 Engine & Gearbox – Circa 1930S

We’ve had the head and sump off the engine, as we couldn’t get the engine to turn. The first 3 pistons are free, however the 4th piston isn’t moving. The bores are not rusted, however appears that the rings have rusted enough to stop the piston from moving freely. We chose not to force it free, and left it as is, to make sure we didn’t cause any undue damage to the bore.

To check the Gearbox – We released the big end cap from the forth rod, and turned the engine, and were able to select and engage all gears.
